Hey Delights!
So after forgetting to hit publish on the podcast on Saturday I definitely took stock of quite a few things and have put some systems into place. I am utilizing the 3 things system (more coming regarding this) & I have created what I am calling “office hours”.
Office hours is essentially blocks of time throughout my days that I allocate to specific areas, whether it be for a Black Plant Lovers, this blog or other areas my life.

I am going to intentionally schedule in as much as possible so that I’m able to be more effective & more importantly feel good about how I have spent my day at the end of each day.
Another thing I decided that I will do is that I will be Drafting the podcast and blog for this series the night before.
I literally created an alarm in my iPhone called “12 Days DRAFT” that is set for 8:45 PM every day because the huge chunk of my morning that was being used for those tasks were no bueno.
Making this shift is right in line with what we discussed on Day 2 about defining how you like to start your day once you get up.
So I feel really good about these changes that I have put into place and I feel like they are ones that I can maintain as long as I am intentional about them.
But onto the topic for Day 4, which is creating what you need.
I wrote on my blog months back about how I spent the majority of the earlier months in quarantine by myself and some of the ways that I kept myself out of a funk.
I am truly grateful that I never really felt like I was missing out on anything during that time & that I was able to find ways to create what I needed.
For one, when we went into lockdown it was spring and summer and I have a balcony so I was able to go out there every morning spend time watering and caring for my plants and for myself.
I would meditate, have my many cups of tea and sit out there and read or listen to books and eat all my meals there & watch movies via my projector.
You name it, if it was about joy and self care, I did it on the balcony.
Being alone most days for months could have really turned into mental health issues for me but I intentionally made the most of having that outdoor space and it truly made me happy.
So for today, Day 4 of The 12 Days of January, I want to encourage you to think about how you can create what you need in your life to feel truly content in spite of any outside restrictions or influences.
One of my favorite tea brands Yogi always has inspirational sayings on all of the teabags and one of my favorite tea quotes is featured above.
Let’s get into Day 4 and talk more about the quote & creating what you need.

The 12 Days of January 2021 podcast series features actions that you can take during the first 12 days of January to create habits & rituals that will instantly improve the quality of your life throughout the year.
The name of the series is a play on one of my favorite Christmas carols, The 12 Days of Christmas, which is of course the countdown of the series of increasingly grand gifts that a true love gives to the receiver.
And I chose that because these small actions that you will be encouraged to make during The 12 Days of January are all about focusing on yourself and giving yourself options to make your life instantly better.
