Hey Delights!
I wrote this post weeks ago and am obviously just making it live! I am doing so, because although this was a post about how I spent Memorial Day, I think it speaks to how we should make sure that we GIVE OURSELVES moments of joy even if our current situation is not exactly how we thought it would be.
Soooo…here you go. Read on for a little glimpse into how I spent a holiday that we would normally fill with lots of activity, alone.

I am still solo quarantined and Joe has been so awesome and has been making and bringing me the most delicious food and baked goods.
She made us a delicious vegan Memorial Day barbecue dinner. It was all my faves, meatless ribs, mac & cheese, potato salad and garlicy asparagus.
Insert happy food dance!
It was such a beautiful day in Chicago, so I paired it with a frozen margarita I forgot I had & enjoyed it on the balcony. And it felt so good. Would I have rather been whooping it up with Joe or others? Sure. I love a good party. But I have been making sure that I give myself moments of joy in spite of everything. So I made the most of it.

I am not going to lie, it has been pretty disheartening to see people all around the country out and about without masks and not social distancing this weekend.
Yes, I want all of us to find joy in our days but the lack of concern for taking basic precautions that could help others just blows.
So, to keep my spirits up, I spent time setting up the balcony for the season. I also spent the better part of the day not taking in much news or social media.
As I write this post, it’s 10pm and I am on the balcony watching a movie {American Assassin – it’s wild}. I am loving using my mini projector {similar}. I have had it for a few years but up until last month when I pulled it out for my birthday, I had only used it once.
Using it reminds me of being at movies in the park, one of my favorite things to do here in Chicago. So, I will be doing it a lot in the coming weeks.
I am so grateful for this space. It truly is an oasis.
How did you spend your day?
