Hey Delights!
I woke up this morning to this feature in a Chicago Sun-Times masks & fashion article. If you found me via the article, welcome to Curvatude!
Curvatude is literally a cornucopia of things that I love (and don’t) but it is especially a LOVE letter to women to love your body as she is and to LIVE life to the fullest!
Over the past 2+ months of living in the time of Coronavirus, we have of course had to adapt in many ways. One such way has been mask wearing becoming the new norm. Since they are going to be a part of our lives for the foreseeable future, I hand sewed my own masks because I wanted ones that were tailored to my face and spoke to my style.
In addition to achieving that goal, I found that the whole process of making them had a bonus benefit. It was very therapeutic and relaxing. The cutting of the fabric and the slow process of hand sewing really calmed my mind. It was almost meditative.

I used this template to cut out my fabric. So far I have made the zebra print ones featured in the article and chambray versions for myself and my grand wee one that I made out of shirt that didn’t fit me. I will be making more for myself because it might seem like a frivolous thing but it truly makes me feel better wearing masks that aren’t just medical looking.
Are you wearing masks? Hopefully you are. It is such a small thing to do that can potentially help keep people safe.
Thanks for checking in with me and if you haven’t already, head over to check out the Chicago Sun-Times article and read more about the various ways people are incorporating masks into their lives and how making masks is saving some small businesses.
