As I shared in my previous post highlighting my word of the year, I am also podcasting my 12 Days of January series again this year.
On Day 1, we started with the basics & a focus on the time that you wake up each morning.

Today for Day 2 we are exploring what you actually do once you are awake.
Do you know what you like to do when you first wake up?
Are you the type of person who likes to jump straight out of bed or are you the type of person who likes to just lay there for a bit?
Or are you the type of person who reaches for your phone to check in or are you the type of person who crawls out of bed and hops in the shower?
Knowing what you need when you get up each morning can make all the difference in the world as to how you feel the rest of your day. So it’s really important to structure that time around the things that will give you the energy & make you feel ready to take on the day.
That is why for Day 1 we focused on being intentional about the time that you actually get up.
If you are waking up later than you want or earlier than you really want, you might feel either behind the eight ball or possibly tired and out of sorts. And neither one of those are good.
So the goal is to connect with yourself to figure out what you need to do first thing in the morning that helps you start your day off happy & ready to make the most of it.

The 12 Days of January 2021 podcast series features actions that you can take during the first 12 days of January to create habits & rituals that will instantly improve the quality of your life throughout the year.
The name of the series is a play on one of my favorite Christmas carols, The 12 Days of Christmas, which is of course the countdown of the series of increasingly grand gifts that a true love gives to the receiver.
And I chose that because these small actions that you will be encouraged to make during The 12 Days of January are all about focusing on yourself and giving yourself options to make your life instantly better.

When I first wake up, I lie/lay in bed for a good while. I think about my day, what my meals are going to be for the day, strategize about things that I have coming up and pray. I thank the Lord for waking me up and keeping me, my family and friends healthy and safe.
