Hey Delights!
In the blooming spirit of Summer I want to share my (current) plants, a bit of how I care for them, where to buy flowers and plants in Chicago, in addition to affordable planter pots. Historically I have not shared a lot about my love for plants and flowers here on le blog but that is changing as of right now.
Starting with sharing the places where you can buy amazing flowers & plants in Chicago. I am also sharing where I get plant pots, etc. I love plants so much and I have been a crazy plant mom for decades. I always share my love on my Instagram stories but this year I want curvatude.com to truly reflect more of the things that I love that are a part of my every day life. Now a lot of the things I used to only share on my home decor blog Luxaholic will now be shared here.
I have updated this post in September 2021 to share that I have not only started a plant instagram page but I also opened an online for now PLANT SHOP! I offer beautiful plants, apparel, mugs and more.

Although it was technically Spring when I shot these pictures, mama nature hasn’t felt like playing nice & the weather ranged from the 30’s to the 70’s.

I put my plant babies out on the balcony mid April but I definitely jumped the gun and put them out too soon. So needless to say, I had to spend time showing them a lot of extra love.
That show of love consisted of me taking them off the ledge & covering them on the cooler, crazy windy days.
I felt like such a bad plant mom but they survived it for the most part and are now flourishing. These pictures of the balcony were taken before it got it’s post winter, Spring cleaning and is once again my favorite space for relaxing while at home. And the addition of the artificial grass was probably one of my best decisions ever.
Anyway these are the places where you can buy flowers and plants in Chicago and cute planter pots.
Trader Joes – In addiction to the amazing flowers that you can get for super cheap like the ones I used for my blooms & tea party, you can also get some great plants from Trader Joes.
The Home Depot – My year round go to for plants & of course my Christmas tree. They also have a wide variety of planters, plant food and more. This year I purchased a mega bag of plant soil for
Ikea– Currently my oldest plants are from Ikea. They have a great selection & a lot of pretty pots. I definitely need to make a trip there again soon. I went to Ikea a few weeks ago and got the most amazing Bird of Paradise. They had so many beautiful plants.
Plant Salon Chicago – A Black woman owned plant shop that opened in July 2020. I haven’t made it there yet but I plan to soon.
The Plantier – A POC woman owned shop that has a location but also does pop ups and sells cute plant pots
Lowes – I honestly never really considered shopping at Lowes. It just was not on my radar but since June 2020 I have been finding some nice plants there. And apparently they offer a lot of sales on plants, so if you have a green thumb and like to rescue plants it’s worth a trip.
Dollar Tree – As I shared in my #CurvyGirlsTea post you can get so many great decor and entertaining items at Dollar Tree and this season I picked up several lightweight plastic pots from there. They come in a variety of sizes & colors (and you can always spray paint them, which I might do),
I purchased one of the adorable rattan elephant baskets seen above a year ago but recently snagged another one because I loved them so much. And this water hyacinth lama basket is a really great size and so stinkin cute that I had to add it to the collection.
Oh and this was the only plant potting soil that I ever used. Follow my plant page on Instagram to see how my plant care has changed and more.
