Hey Delights!
I am posting this incredibly late because I have already participated in 4 of the 6 Black Plant Lovers pop ups that I have this month. And because the pop ups have literally been back to back to back, I am behind on a lot of things.
But today I am taking a break. While I did wake up very early, around 1:30 AM and did a little bit of work in bed, I have for the most part spent most of the day resting.
But I wanted to recap where I have been and where I will be this coming weekend, the 18th and 19th of December.
My first pop up was Sunday, December 5th. I was invited to vend in my old neighborhood, Ukrainian Village along with some other vendors for a holiday pop up at this cool little retro style bar called Archies.
I had so much fun at this pop up because the people were so awesome. I loved how much the neighborhood came out to support a small bar nestled on a relatively quiet street.
You could tell that this was a regular stop for a lot of the people and that they knew each other and it was just so cool. I especially love that there weren’t TVs blasting and people were just connecting and getting their drink on.
It felt very 80’s TV Cheers bar like except there were actually some Black & Brown people at Archies.
On Friday, December 10th, I was in my current neighborhood, Washington Park at Retreat, a coffee bar & creative house.
Retreat is such a gorgeous space and although it was pouring raining when I arrived to set up, I had a fun night.
On Saturday & Sunday I was on the Magnificent Mile at one of my favorite markets, Randolph Street Market.
I will also be back there this coming weekend!
Pre-C9 the market was always in the West Loop but this month they have been hosting weekend pop-ups and I am just over the moon to be a part of it.
The founder of the market, Sally is one of my favorite people on the planet. And there are so many cool vintage vendors, artists and creative‘s participating.
And the DJ on the floor that I am on has been carrying a girl because truth be told, I am exhausted!
It is quite a production for me to participate in pop ups.
Not only do I have to source the plants, I also have to label them so that I am sharing information about them that the consumer can use to decide if a new plant baby will fit into their lifestyle.
And I have to bring tables and this time I also brought my plant stands and other items to better showcase everything that I brought. And I live on the 3rd floor of a walk up.
So it’s A LOT!
But I am so grateful to have these opportunities and I try to make the most of them.
Fun fact about me at the markets. I don’t sit during markets.
Mainly because I know that if I do sit down, it would be a struggle to get up because of the chronic pain in my legs.
But also, I attend a lot of markets and it is always a little offputting to me when vendors don’t seem to be interested in engaging with potential customers.
So I am always dancing, smiling and trying to create a fun aura in my space so that people know I am more than interested in having conversations with them and potentially selling to them.
So if you are in Chicago I would love to see you this weekend for my final 2021 Black Plant Lovers pop up.
