{Community} Welcome Zadry of Curves a la Mode
For quite some time I have wanted to expand the scope of Curvatude and bring you MORE by offering different perspectives and various features and I am excited to finally say that “it’s about to go down”!
And to start off, I would like to introduce you to our new contributor, Zadry of Curves a la Mode. She is an fabulous writer but even more than that, she is an AWESOME person who has such a beautiful spirit and I so EXCITED to have her share that with us here at Curvatude.
And I did a little interview with Z, so that if you don’t already know her, you can get to know my girl a little bit..
Jaye: What made you start your blog?
Zadry: I’ve been curvy my entire life, yo-yo’ing from a size 12/14 to my current 16/18. But being plus size was hardest for me in my 20’s.
I was always the chunkiest of all my friends and well plus size fashion was nowhere close to what it is now so shopping was a horrendous experience sometimes. I became a dieting fiend, I tried anything just to lose weight which eventually started affecting my health, so I backed off and just let my body be.
Starting on the path of loving myself let me to discover all these wonderful plus size blogs & women that looked just like me. That helped me to begin embracing myself and my body. It’s what inspired me to begin writing, I wanted to share my experiences and thoughts so that if any young girl or woman out there found herself in the same place I did in my 20’s they’d know they are not alone and are completely worthy of love and happiness– regardless of their size.
Jaye: What is the one thing that people ask all the time that brings out the major eye rolls?
Zadry: Oh my! So many things to choose from, LOL.
I think one of my biggest pet peeves is when people ask me if my hair is real and then proceed to try and touch to confirm it themselves, as if my annoyed “Yes it is” isn’t sufficient.
It always feels like it happens in slow motion too, their hand coming at my head and I become a Matrix character at that point, swiveling my body out of their line of touch before they make contact.
Jaye: Serious side eye to those folks! Since it’s still summer, swimsuit, one piece or two piece?
Zadry: I love both styles, but two pieces are my thing! I’m obsessed with the GabifreshxS4A collection, they can take my money any day!
Jaye: LOL..yes it is a great collection. And you rocked that chevron two piece.
Jaye: If you were a piece of fruit, what would you be?
Zadry: I would be a pomegranate– full of tiny surprises inside.
Jaye: Oh I love that answer! And finally, why did you agree to come on as a contributor?
Zadry: Back when I was a baby blogger, you were actually one of the first bloggers to welcome me into the plus size community with open arms. So when you asked me to become a contributor there were no second thoughts in joining the Curvatude team.
