{Five Fab} Ways to Break The Winter Slog
Am I the only one who thinks that December & January are like the sun and the moon? In December even if it’s cold, everything is glitzy and festive and glam but come January, especially in the cities that really experience real winter, like here in Chicago, everything gets soooo bleak.
2. My poor dresses tend to get little to no play during the cold months. so I am going to pull out some of my favorites and layer them under and over turtlenecks, sweaters and other tops and throw on some tights and even leggings if necessary and wear them. Speaking of tights, I am finally going to take these Hue Heat Temp tights out and see if they truly are warmer.
For one, I am adding more greens to my life and to help me when I am out and about (and in) when I want to get something quick and easy in me, I ordered these 8G Greens Superfood Supplements. I have read some really good things about them. And yes, mama nature’s crop is of course the best of options but I know I don’t get enough daily, so it’s nice to have supplements, so I am excited to try them.
I have also started actually measuring & counting the calories of the things that I eat all the time. I am not obsessive about it but I am finding if I do it just once, then I am more conscious of it, so for example it’s a measured teaspoon of Earth balance instead of just digging in and scooping out huge dollops for my morning oatmeal.
5. And of course moving our bodies is a huge part of how energetic we are as well. While it is so easy to just throw on your pajamas and cuddle up under your favorite throw on the couch with the remote and do pretty much nothing all day to escape, that is seriously just more slog behavior, so while yes, a few hours of bra off/vegging out is mandatory year round in my world, so is moving my body.
And since the gym aint quite calling me when it’s minus 20 degrees outside (or + 20 degrees for that matter), I have my simple tools to get some exercise in like my fitness hoop, which is fun and snaps together so it’s really convenient and my kettlebell, which really ups my weight training workouts.
Also one of my favorite fitness sites Gaiam has a workout channel that costs $6.99 a month on Xfinity which is truly the only part of my cable bill that I do not begrudge. There is a huge variety of classes to take from walking to yoga to dancing. They also have a selection of workouts that are free.
