Getaway To A Tiny Cabin

Hey Delights!

I have been going through the 70,000 images and videos on my cell phone (yes you read that correctly 😊) and I have decided that I am going to start sharing things that I had planned to share but never did.

First up is the Getaway tiny cabin that I visited for my 50th birthday.

It was a solo trip for the most part, Joe joined me the last day. But I drove from Chicago to Lexington Kentucky and stayed overnight because when I am doing road trips, five or six hours is the max that I will drive any given day.

And the next day I left Lexington and made my way to Georgia. The ride was pretty uneventful until I got about 70 miles away from the tiny house.

I came upon this turn and it had these signs posted stating that the next 70 or so miles will be uphill turns and I thought OK no big deal.

Girllll….. was I wrong! 😭

I am a really great driver. I am very confident behind the wheel. I hate city driving but I actually love highway driving, so I just thought OK cool.

So I am driving along and it’s a beautiful day. I am in the mountains & nature is showing out! And then the lane gets smaller and the natives I guess, who know the road are driving a little crazy because I’m not going really fast (I am doing the speed limit) because I don’t know the terrain.

So people are just swooping around me. And I am totally fine with that because my goal is to make it to my destination alive 😹.

So the people & their erratic driving aside, the road REALLY starts twisting and turning and twisting and turning.

It was WILD!

It was literally like 60 miles of twists & up hills and I can laugh about it now but at the time I was like WOAHHH.

Thrillist describes it perfectly…

The Suches Loop

Known to locals as “Georgia’s Dragon,” the Suches Loop is found smack dab in the middle of the Chattahoochee National Forest and Blue Ridge Mountains. The loop is essentially a little over 50 miles of twists and elevations. TSL is well known in the state for drawing auto enthusiasts due to its numerous blind turns and steep elevations. Driving up the mountain on GA-19, there are two lanes. Once drivers connect with Route 180 the road gets narrower. Although the path can be challenging even for veteran drivers, it is a must-drive for those who want to push the handling limits on their vehicle. You shouldn’t feel bad about taking it down an RPM or 500 here

So… see? I am not exaggerating AT ALL.

But I finally made it through those harrowing miles and ended up in the most serene & lovely place.
