Curvatude Fab Five – This Month in Fashion History

Today’s Curvatude Fab Five is a look back at a few historical fashion events that occurred this month.

First up, Christian Dior was born on Jan 21, 1905 and his contributions to the world of fashion and beauty are legendary.

So much so, that I will forgive the following statement attributed to him as to why his lines were so successful.

Because they “Please the ladies by enabling them to please their men”.

And while a fashion legend was born this month, a great one was lost also.

Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel died on Jan 10, 1971.

There is so much that can and has been said about Coco Chanel but no one can take anything away from she brought to the world of fashion.

And how could you resist loving a women who knew that “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different”?

Although the stories change a bit depending on who’s account you read, they all showcase her fabulousness.

And I would be remiss to not mention the history making occasion that took place on that sweet, cool day in Washington D.C. last year on January 18th.

While America swore in a new President, the world was captivated by the ever fashionable First Lady, Michelle Obama.

The First Lady’s wardrobe continues to intrigue the masses with what will surely become the most chronicled fashion history of any first lady EVER {yes even more so than Jackie O!}

Here is a look back at all of her inauguration ensembles.

And to celebrate Mrs. O and her famous style, Madame Tussaud’s London Wax Museum unveiled a wax figure in her likeness on the anniversary of the inauguration on Monday.
