Dame Elizabeth Taylor

one of the first things that i do most mornings is reach for my laptop,(which sadly is my only bed companion as of late).

today, the first thing that i saw was a breaking news alert that Dame Elizabeth Taylor had passed.

while it had been known for some time that she was not well, for some reason this was just incredibly shocking to me.

she always seemed like the fiercest fighting force.

after suffering from everything from pneumonia to brain tumors to broken hips, she always held on..

i spent some time on her twitter page today, something i hadn’t done since Michael Jackson had passed, and it just made me smile…

Dame Elizabeth Taylor lived out loud, on her own terms.

illness be damned.

last year she tweeted about how there was a rumor going around about someone playing her and she said that no one would be playing her…

see…feisty!

love that.

the picture above is from the movie, The Taming of the Shrew. it is my favorite of all her movies. i own on DVD and watch it regularly.

i just love the way that she and the man that she called the love of her life, Richard Burton, fought and loved in it.

i always imagine that in some ways it resembled their real life together…

back in february harper’s bazaar had kim kardashian interview her and just reading it, you marvel at her.

because while she will always be remembered for her beauty, her marriages and her jewelry, it was obvious that to her….love and giving where the things that really make a life…
