Vacation: The Drama Of It All

I found this post in my drafts and realized that I never actually shared one of the craziest days.

For my 50th birthday what was originally supposed to be a roadtrip with Joe ended up being a solo drive to a Getaway house outside of Atlanta.

I love roadtrips, so while I did not originally plan to do any of the driving let alone all of it, I was down with the idea of having quiet time on the road.

Previously I shared another crazy part of this trip, the ride through the Suches Loop aka “Georgia’s Dragon, so I won’t rehash that part but what a ride it was.

Fast forward or rather rewinding back to the rest of the birthday trip.

I was literally in introvert heaven.

We have taken roadtrips quite a bit the past few years and have found that we like to break the trip up. We rarely ever drive more than 4 to 6 hours on each leg, so I drove from Chicago to Lexington Kentucky.

I stayed at the GLō Best Western Lexington and it was a really nice hotel. My only gripe is that like most hotel, there weren’t many vegan food options available. Other than that, I would definitely stay at again. And well I actually did, on the way back to Chicago 🙃.

After a great night of rest, I was back on the road and headed to Suches and unknowingly to the crazy loop.

Once I finally arrived in my cabin, the ride and everything else was quickly forgotten because the nature girl in me was truly in her element.

It was a glorious few days. There is no wifi at the Getaway cabins so I brought my tablet, some books & magazines, my record player.

I sang, danced, cooked, read and watched movies and just truly relaxed.

Joe then decided to take the bus down to spend my birthday with me.

Not gonna lie, the loner in me didn’t want her to come because I was relishing being by myself so much but another part was happy she wanted to celebrate my big five O.

So after 3 solo days I headed back out through the Suches Loop, this time way more confident because I knew what was ahead of me, to go and pick her up in Atlanta.

And that’s when all “the fun” began. 🥴
