Hey Delights!
One of my favorite Winter things is throwing on some warm pajamas & cuddling under the blankets watching Christmas movies. Last year I once again lamented the fact that there was still a huge lack of Christmas movies featuring black people. Coming up with that list was so hard because there really wasn’t much to choose from. Thankfully this year I am living my best black people in Christmas movies life thanks to Lifetime.

Not only have there been a variety of Christmas movies featuring black people, the movies have actually been enjoyable. There is good acting and when there is music involved, it’s also good. I also really found myself invested in the stories. And I was happy to see that while some of the actresses are playing multiple roles, there are a lot of new and unexpected players as well. I mean I was really surprised to see Merry Liddle Christmas starring (and produced by) Kelly Rowland, yeah Kelly Rowland of the Destiny’s Child. And old old school fave Kim Fields is starring in one. And while there are some interracial love stories, there is lots of black on black love also.
Here are the other 2019 Lifetime Christmas movies featuring black people.
Christmas Hotel – starring Tatyana Ali & Sean Partrick Thomas (who I have loved since Save the Last Dance
A Christmas Winter Song – starring Ashanti
A Very Vintage Christmas – starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict
Radio Christmas – starring Keisha Knight Pullman
No Time Like Christmas – starring Kyla Pratt (I really like the male lead, Ed Ruttle)
You Light Up My Christmas – starring Kim Fields
Jingle Belle – starring Tatyana Ali
The Christmas Pact – starring Kyla Pratt
Christmas in Louisiana – starring Percy Daggs III
Rediscovering Christmas – starring B.J. Britt
Because they have been so disappointing over the years, I actually haven’t even attempted to watch Hallmark this season.
And while Netflix still lags behind they do have a few:
There might be more on Netflix but Lifetime has seriously been my Christmas movie lifeline, so they definitely win Christmas when it comes to movies for me this year.
Have you been watching Christmas movies? What’s your fave channel?
