{Beauty} School Dropout
The title of this post is not only of course kitschy but also true, as I am a beauty school dropout. Years back I was a student at the University of Aesthetics but just could not handle being in class for four hours each night after work, so sadly I bailed. Drop out status aside, my love for all things skincare and beauty has not died.
As of late, I am one of those girls who likes to dabble in makeup for fun. And actually you will rarely see me in makeup (especially when it’s hot) and doing full makeup posts and not because I don’t love it, because I LOVE IT! But it’s just not my thang to be a full out beauty blogger but that does not stop me from buying up a bunch a stuff and playing with it. If you follow me on snapchat, you witness this on a regular basis.
Anyway, recently I came upon this Beauty School Dropout palette from NYX while strolling thru Ulta and snagged it up.
As you can see, it has a lot of fun colors. And one of my goals for buying it was to add more than my go to gold liner to my eye shadow game. And right out the gate I went with this colorful look, that is so different from anything I normally do and I loved it.
Here is my mini snapchat review of the palette after opening it and rocking a few colors from it for the first time.
Colors used: 10, 17, 22 & 29 (that fab green)
– NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sun Goddess – Love this but if you are new to highlighting like I am, then remember, a little goes a long way & build slowly.
–Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herb and Rosewater – I love this stuff. I keep a 4 oz in my bathroom and a 2 oz in my purse. A godsend during the hot months for cooling off and the cold months for moisture.
–NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Black – This is newer to me also but I Like that it really helps me define and add tint where my brows are sparse.
–NYX Cosmetics Control Freak Eyebrow Gel – Have been using this for a while and I love that there is not flaking or residue.
–Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black – I don’t have a lot of experience with the brand but I like this mascara a lot.
–NYX Sculpt & Highlight Brow Contour in Light Beige/Espresso – I just started using this and so far so good. Although I think I might like the medium beige brow highlight better.
–CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation in Warm Caramel – I have used this for a couple of months and I like how smooth & light it is and I think the color is a great match for my skin.
Whew….shout out to you makeup bloggers..anyway, this palette is definitely a dropout worth checking out. I love the wide variety of colors and I will definitely be playing with it often.
