{A Blogger’s Life} Photo Shoot Outtakes #Throwback

Hello Lovelies!

I thought it would be fun to start sharing some of the crazy, funny, and sometimes exhausting things that occurs when I am taking pictures for the blog.

I have mentioned before how the weather can be really challenging. For example, the wind would not let my hair be great here and was blowing it all over, so we had to stop, regroup and change our angle.

On this shoot, we actually had to stop shooting and go into Walgreens to buy hairspray and my poor hair ended up stiff as a board because the wind had whipped it and any little bit of curl that I had was gone. (Check out the final pics on this post HERE)

And do I even need to talk about the temperatures? I mean seriously. You see my hands balled into fists here and that’s because I am FREEZING. But we need to get the lighting right. Let the background clear of cars and humans, etc. (Check out the final pics on this post HERE)

This shot is from the same day as the one above where I am rocking that fabulous faux leather maxi skirt and so we still had the hair issues but we also had issues with the location. Initially it seemed like it would be great but the pics just didn’t shine. Not to mention there were so many people walking by that we had to change the angle which cut out the part of the walkway that could have possibly given us what we were looking for.

And my kid and I always know when a location is giving us what we want, so we gave up on this spot and ended up in one that we knew we could work but even it had it’s challenges. As you can see by my face, I am not the happiest of campers. (Check out the final pics on this post HERE)

Here is shoot where I really wanted to highlight the art around us and capture the product that I was featuring as well but we arrived a bit too late and had absolutely no natural light. So we had to spend a lot of time playing with the settings and mind you, I stepped out of winter boots into this heels and we were just down the street from Lake Michigan, so it was sooo coldddd….(Check out the final pics on this post HERE)

But even when the weather isn’t crazy cold, we are still shooting in heavily populated urban areas the majority of the time, so there are always moments like this…where it’s not just mama nature but humans getting in the way (Check out the final pics on this post HERE)
Or sometimes it’s crazy hot and I am like just take the shot kiddo…and she’ll be like the light isn’t right or whatever which is doubly annoying when you are trying not to end up all sweaty in the pics.

And then of course there is always the random person who wants to get in on the action.

And sometimes we are carrying so much stuff and we always have to find a place to stash it that is close enough to us so we don’t end up chasing somebody down the street because they snatched it but of course we need it out of the way.

This was another shoot where we ended up moving and crazily the best spot was in front of bushes that were swarming with bees!! The ish we do…lawd! (Check out the final pics on this post HERE)

There are also shoots that sometimes never end up on the blog, like this one. I LOVE this dress and these blue suede acrylic heels seriously make me smile and I posted a coming soon blog HERE and planned to post it but it just never happened.
I don’t do a lot of editing and we shot three looks on this day, including one featuring a python print jumpsuit and this one featuring an awesome graphic bodycon dress and my love rings and this dress was the last one of the day and I don’t know if I was just tired or what but I just wasn’t in love with the pics, so I didn’t post them

Another look we actually ended up shooting on two different days. I love what this Black Girls Are Magic shirt stands for, so I really wanted to showcase it in a fun way. The first attempt, was me trying to connect it to history by using this really cool mural that I love. But lawd, the pics we took there just didn’t do it for me.

So ultimately we ended up going out another day and re-shooting it in a completely different look and location. And even that shoot required a move because I initially thought it would be great to shoot in front of these beautiful flowers but it just wasn’t working for us. Like I said, my kid and I know when we have the shots that we want. So we moved and found a spot we liked and we even ended up with me wearing the belt backwards (Check out the final pics on this post HERE)

And of course there are lots and lots of outtakes of me just goofing around.

And of course the rugrat snaps plenty of pics of herself in between takes.
LOL…I love this kid. Who by the way turns 21 next week. It makes me want to cry..
I am so proud of her and so in awe of the person she was become.
My kid and I have taken thousands of pictures and usually only 5 or so make it onto a post so of course this is just a small sampling of outtakes, so stay tuned, I will post more from time to time.
