{Life} Parade, Food and Fun

I love parades and don’t get to check them out often enough, so although I am still sick (you should have heard my ma mere on the phone when I told her we went) and it was cold as frick out, we got up at the crack (6am) and made our way downtown to check out the 80th Chicago Thanksgiving Day parade.

It was an awesome multicultural display that made it all worth it.

These ladies rocked….bless their hearts for being out there in this cold!

Of course I took hundreds of pics some of which I realize now, I should have changed some of my settings for but it was way to cold to be futzin with it and I refuse to use auto but overall, I was able to capture the feel and energy.

As a previous marching band member eons ago, back in high school, I am always in awe of them at events like this because I remember holding my clarinet back in the day in all kinds of weather and while bands usually make it look so easy, it’s not.

So, major kudos to the kids! They rocked.

Oh and since my gloves were obviously just for show today and were providing not an ounce of warmth, I took them off and and would just ball them up in my fists in my pockets in between shots and a lady saw me at one point with my bare hand over my lens and she reached out and covered my hand and said “your hands must be so cold” I replied “yes they are” and she started taking her gloves off and said “we are going in, you want my hand warmers”? and I almost kissed her I was so thankful. YES!

Joe cooked our 100% vegan Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, so we were able to just come back to the flat and splattow into plates of food and coupled with a small glass of brandy spiked nog (to help with my throat…wink wink), the marathon napping began…

I think I might fix myself another plate and do a little cyber Thanksgiving shopping 😉
Hope you and yours have had a great Thanksgiving!
