{Technology} Google Giveth…Google Taketh Away

By now you should know that it’s lights out for Google reader July 1st.

And this really blows, as I used it religiously to keep up with all the sites that
I love reading and there are A LOT of them and of course I have gotten used to
having them displayed a certain way and being able to manipulate them in certain
ways. So, having to find something new and get used to it is kinda annoying.

But of course Google is a business in the business of BIG business and here is
an interesting article about why they might have killed Google reader.

As far as readers go, I have been using Feedly which I alternately love and loathe.

Love because it’s very aesthetically pleasing &
my categories came over nice and colorfully from Google reader.

Loathe because the iphone app is kinda buggy.

I was trying to remove feeds for sites that are no longer active
and it freezes up EVERY TIME!!

I also imported my feeds into Bloglovin and while it is not as fancy as Feedly,
I find it very clean and easy to use.  I also found that I have two feeds on it.

Le Sigh…anyway, you can subscribe to my correct Bloglovin feed below.

I also loaded flipboard on my iphone. And it’s kinda cool because you can add your twitter and facebook feeds to it and manipulate them in various ways and it also aggregates other content that might be of interest.

I am still learning it but so far, so good.

Lifehacker put together a list of links to other alternatives and their pros and cons. Some that I hadn’t heard of like Newsvibe & Pulse
