{event} recap: Chicago in White
Wrote this weeks ago and it got lost in the drafts! Chicago in White was one of
my fav things all summer and I so look forward to doing it again
next year and one day perhaps in Paris!
Dining alfresco is one of the ultimate summertime pleasures.
And doing so with over a 1,600 other people, all dressed in white,
takes that pleasure to a whole new level.
I brought my bubble gun…it always makes a party, a party!
I have been fascinated with the idea of a Dine en Blanc, the flash mob
dinner every since I came across pictures from one held in Paris, France.
So needless to say, when I became aware of the one being held here
in Chicago (at the last minute mind you), I knew that I HAD TO attend and
thankfully I had someone who looked out for me and I was able to get tix
and I am glad that they did.
Diner en Blanc, which was called Chicago in White by the organizers here,
started off as a way for a group of friends in Paris to connect with
one another. They were meeting in a public space, so they decided
that they would all wear white in order to find one another.
One thing led to another and a movement of
flash mob style outdoor dinners began.
While is was a hella hot day and luggin my table, chair, food etc up the el stairs to get to my
designated harmonization point was not pleasant, once we found
out where we were going and got there and settled in, the music
and the general vibe in the air made the struggle disappear and the fun began.
I took my girl SinnamonS with me and as usual, we laughed and had a good time.
