{life} event…full…
to say that it has been an eventful week would be such a grand understatement.
early saturday evening i had the pleasure of being the featured blogger for the Kiyah Wright meet & greet and i got to chat her up. She’s fab! i will post more about this soon.
sunday started off in a very lovely way, with a little theatre. i saw Immediate Family, a really fun, thought provoking play directed by Phylicia Rashad.
i also ended up sitting next to this incredible lady who immediately claimed me as her BFF! LOL…hey Ms. Green!
sunday evening on the other hand was unbelievable. i ended up going home early because i was a beat tired. i was lounging around half watching tv and working on my laptop when i heard a fire truck. initially i didn’t think much of it until i heard a second truck & realized that they had stopped nearby.
i got up went to my living room & turned the air conditioner down and could faintly smell smoke.
I went back to my bedroom and opened the window and there was a fireman in between my building and the next one fighting off a wall of flame that was consuming both of the garages!
OH MY GOD!
i went into autopilot. i was home alone in the buff, so it was grab a dress…grab my hair (yes, i snagged it on the way out of my room and slipped it on!!! Bwaaaaa), get the beast, who was surprisingly very calm, (and so was i) which is so not like him and why i call him the beast.
thankfully in the end the fire department’s quick arrival, excellent work and the wind was in our favor.
while the garages and the autos in them were a total loss, only the siding of the building ended up melted. I also think that the fact that the building is so old and made from several layers of material, including good old fashioned brick didn’t hurt either.
i am just so grateful.
the about 4 am monday morning we found out that the wee one had pneumonia and ear infections and a fever that was causing her to have seizures.
this after several days of fever and THREE visits to the doctor. which pisses me off and reminds me of something i was told by a grumpy, good hearted guy when I was 19 about why sometimes you need to make a lot of noise.
the rest of monday & tuesday were a blur of work, organizing and planning and yesterday after a twice delayed flight that had me anxious if i would actually make it in time, i arrived in nyc & went on the full figured fashion week white cruise.
with Marie of the curvy fashionista in this pic. i am wearing a Loft dress that i literally purchased tuesday night after a snafu with a dress i was having made for the party.
i rarely go into Loft but i made a quick run in and BAM, i saw the dress, they had it in large and it fit.
DONE.
oh and i got lots of compliments on my necklace… its one of two new ones up for grabs at Closet Fete and more new stuff is coming next week!!
so, finally in nyc and in the end, it was a gorgeous night and a great way to cap off my return…
