International Women’s Day
March 8th is International Women’s Day.
It is a celebration of women, where we have come from and where we are trying to go, the struggles that we have faced on this path and the success that we have achieved in spite of.
How perfect that tonight a woman achieved an historic first.
Kathryn Bigelow won the Oscar for Best Director for the Hurt Locker, which also won the Oscar for Best Picture.
This is a huge victory for all women in Hollywood and beyond, who simply dream of being appreciated and respected for their work.
There are events being held all over the world during the month and even if there aren’t any scheduled in your area, you can takes steps personally to create your own celebration, by simply celebrating yourself.
One way to do this, is to take some time to honestly reflect.
Where are you?
Where do you want to be?
How will you get there?
What are you doing that is preventing yourself from getting there?
Yes, be honest…what are you doing?
Take ownership of what you allow to happen in your life… and the things that are out of your control..take control of how you respond to them.
I am asking myself these questions also and some of the answers, while not music to my ears, are necessary for me to acknowledge if I really want to achieve the goals that I have set for myself.
Perhaps, asking yourself these questions will be of value to you also.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!!
Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it. – Oprah Winfrey
