Curvatude on the Scene

I attend quite a few events here in our great city and I always have the intention of blogging about then but a lot of times it just doesn’t work out that way.

SOOOO…my new thing is to try to get the post going right after (or even during) the event by starting the typing up of my posts on my Black Berry to help make it easier to accomplish (that’s how I was able to get that Angie Stone Experience piece up the very next day!)

Anyway, tonight I was scheduled to attend three events and I am glad to say that while I only made it to two of them, the two that I did attend were really great.

First up tonight was Shop IN Chicago at the Drake Hotel. This event was put on my Cece & Melinda with Raymi Productions.

There were a variety of vendors and products available and of course the Drake was decked out for the holidays!

I purchased this funky bib necklace from a great little shop in my hood that I have never actually visited before but that I will be visiting frequently from here on out, called Ms. Catwalk.

Usually when I attend this kind of event, I leave feeling like something was missing and that’s usually because there are no plus size companies represented.

Well tonight, lo and behold, there were two plus size companies on the scene and they both had a really nice selection of products available.

(Look for future posts highlighting both of these companies in the coming weeks.)

The second event of the night was the The Red Pump Project & The Red Tie Project “Say RED: Cocktails & Conversation” at Ai Sushi Restaurant & Lounge fundraiser for Project VIDA.

The event was hosted by Karyn of The Fabulous Giver, Luvvie of Awesomely Luvvie and Patrice of Afrobella.

Here I am with Patrice of Afrobella

Here is Patrice of Afrobella talking a bit about the event. (By the way, I recorded this with my new Flip mino video camera, which I am loving. Look for more videos soon.)

The event featured a silent auction of some pretty sweet goodies and yours truly had the winning bid to attend next years Blogging While Brown conference.

I can’t wait to find out where it is being held but besides that, I was more than happy to make a contribution to this great cause.

Here I am with Tori of A Kinky Hair Monologue who I actually was engaged in a hilarious lil bidding war with over the item I won. It was really funny!

All in all it was a great night.
