“Fat Bitch” Giveaway – Yeah, You Read it Right! UPDATED!

UPDATE: An interesting thing happened with this giveaway. From my blog tracking a couple of hundred plus folks visited the post from the chicago area but none of them entered the contest by leaving a comment and their contact info.

I did get a few emails from folks (thank you btw) stating that they wanted to enter but they didn’t want to publicly comment on it because it wasnt a tongue in cheek question to them but actually something that has really hurt them at times.

A couple even had the same problem I am having with that night, there is so much going on that particular night and they had already committed to something else, although they really wanted the tix.

I too have another event that night and could not commit to a third one that i really wanted to attend because I committed to this one.

But I will just do what I do, run from one to other and enjoy them both!!

Others simply said that they didn’t want to leave their contact info because of spammers.

Initially I was going to post an email to win link but I knew when I posted the question that it could potentially be a loaded one for folks and that was part of the reason why I chose to do so and one of the reasons why I think Erica has named her show what she has.

Anyway, I think its going to be a great show and can’t wait to see it. I have decided to give the tix to two of the people who emailed me.

But I really wish that more women would have spoke out and commented on the question because I have to believe that a lot of us have been called a Fat Bitch before and I am sure that it has meant different things to each of us and could have lead to great dialogue and perhaps some healing in the process.

Chicago’s own Erica Watson is bringing her one woman comedy show “Fat Bitch” home for a limited Thanksgiving run, November 19th-28th @ The Chicago Center for The Performing Arts.

Tickets are $10 in advance/$15 @ the door and can be purchased here.

If you are not familiar with Erica, she is a “big, bold and beautiful” actor, comedian, director and commentator.

She also has a role in the history making, out in theaters now (GO SEE IT) film “Precious”.

The Columbia College Chicago graduate (BA in Film and TV, MA in Media Management) will be delivering the comedy from a funny yet thought-provoking perspective.

“Fat Bitch”, written and performed by Watson as a hybrid of theater and stand-up, explores America’s fascination with size! From images of “mammy” to the recent nominee for US Surgeon General, black women and their bodies have always been a taboo subject!

“Fat Bitch!” takes a honest look at how Erica’s weight has shaped her view of the world, and how the world has viewed her shape!

She will also touch on other current day events such as “PETA’s recent “Save the Whales” billboard campaign and the inter-national “war on obesity”.

Sounds like it’s going to be a riot and I am attending the opening night performance.

And as a sweet gesture Erica has generously offered me two pairs of tickets to give away!

To enter this giveaway, just leave a response to the following question in the comments section.

Have you ever been called a “Fat Bitch”?

It’s all tongue in cheek, although I have been called a fat bitch by a raging homeless guy. FTW!

Please make sure that you either leave your email address or @twitter user name also so that you can be contacted if you win! Contest ends 11/14 @ midnight CST

{Tell all your Chicago peeps that one of their own is bringing something original home so they need to come out & support her!}

  1. Unfortunately, I have been called a "fat bitch." It's something about that label. I remember my ex calling me that without realizing he never clicked over on the phone. All I could say was "Excuse me? Is that what you call me when I'm not around?" Ugh!

  2. Yes I have been called a "fat bitch" before, but I just let them know that it's Ms. Fat Bitch to you. I'm not insecure in myself because I know I look good and if God didn't want me fat he wouldn't have made me that way. I have had the same man for 17 years and that's more than I can say for some other people.

  3. Haven't been called a fat bitch exactly before, but I've had my share of nasty remarks. Best thing you can do is act with class and keep your chin up!

After all, people will think you're as fabulous as you do as long as you have the confidence!

    Love your blog, Goody! 🙂
