Hey Delights!
Happy December! Like so many others, I love vegging out to Hallmark & Lifetime movies during the holidays. But it’s 2018 and although this year they have featured more black people than ever, (examples here, here & here) the lack of people of color in Hallmark movies is still major side eye worthy. So I have been purposely been seeking out Christmas movies that feature black people. Because guess what? We love cuddling up and watching movies. We love Christmas. We fall in and out of love. We celebrate. We have families. We like to deck the halls. You get my drift.

I have shared other posts over the years that feature some of my favorite Christmas movies because I enjoy them so much and I like to share 🙂 (a post linked below). And while I called out Hallmark and Lifetime, Netflix and other channels/streaming services (you too Amazon) also have lots of work to do when it comes to Christmas movie diversity. But here are five Christmas movies currently on Netflix featuring black people that I have recently watched. They all feature something different that will give you all the feels of the season.
The Holiday Calendar – This movie stars Kat Graham and Quincy, son of Kim Porter (who tragically recently passed) and Al B Sure. It is such a well made movie that features characters with depth, which let’s be real, is not always the Christmas movie modus operandi.
What are some of your favorite Christmas movies?

Thank you for this list. I would not have known as I am not a frequent Netflix watcher. It will be fun when I go visit my family to be able to watch a couple of these!
Thanks again!
